During the last leg of a trip that circled the globe,
this was inspired from a stop in Marin, California to visit my best
friend and his family and see his new house. We drove out to Dry Creek Valley
and it was my first trip to "wine country". With the brilliant light on the vines,
smell of the grapes and earth, I knew I was somewhere different but still near home.
In this painting I was interested in connecting the big shapes that the light and shadows
provided. For me, this painting has become a symbol of vineyards everywhere and the relaxed
atmosphere they provide.
